What is futon and how to sleep well?

Futon is a mattress which has been a part of the Japanese culture for many centuries. It is winning the hearts of more and more westerners. Mostly because they are made from quality natural materials such as cotton, wool, coconut fibres, natural latex, horsehair or Aloe Vera. These mattresses are generally rather firm (there are also softer versions with latex) which means they’re great for alleviating back pain; they also provide so-called active relaxation. It means that, when you sleep, your tendons remain slightly tense and only your muscles relax which contributes to your feeling well-rested and fresh in the morning. The mattresses are usually fitted with a removable decorative encasement and placed either on regular bed frames or on practical sofas. Futons can be used without any bed frames or slated bases; you can place them directly on the floor. They’re mostly made in several common sizes but you can have them made in any size you want. All this in a wide variety of colour combinations. All the textile materials used meet the high standards of the international Oeco-Tex certificate.
